The AVS category system
Singapore’s Animal & Veterinary Service classifies origin countries into four categories (A, B, C, D), each with different vaccination, blood-test, and quarantine requirements. The United States is Category C — meaning a 10-day home quarantine is typically sufficient if all blood titer requirements are met.
Timeline at a glance
- 6+ months out: rabies vaccination + 30-day wait + RNATT blood test
- 3 months out: apply for Singapore import license
- 30 days out: health certificate, USDA endorsement, flight booking
- Day of: delivery to airport, IATA-compliant crate, AWB issued
Common pitfalls
The RNATT (rabies titer) result must be at least 30 days old by entry date. Miss this by a day and the pet enters 30-day quarantine instead of 10.
